Introducing our new website and its many new features and content elements: the home of Continuent - the MySQL Availability Company.
Our colleague Chris Parker covers a few of the approaches he found that made the transition of working in an office to working from home easier for him (something that a lot of us experience at the moment). He also takes a look at the technical side and what we at Continuent use to conduct our day to day business and Keep the Lights on. Including a Great Bake Off!

In this blog post, we describe the new Read Affinity tuning feature of the Tungsten Connector.
Tungsten Connector read affinity now supports multiple dataservices with ordering and exclusion (only one was previously allowed).
You may now fine-tune the affinity per user in user.map and via the global tpm configuration option connector-affinity.
In this blog post, we talk about how to run applications across multiple clouds (i.e. AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) using Tungsten Clustering. You want your business-critical applications to withstand node, datacenter, availability-zone or regional failures. For SaaS apps, you also want to bring data close to your application users for faster response times and a better user experience. With cross-cloud capability, Tungsten also helps avoid lock-in to any particular cloud provider.
This distributed topology, perfect for multi-region SaaS models, allows you to have all the benefits of high availability with centralized writes and local reads for all regions. Latency is limited only by the WAN link and the speed of the target node.
